Malaysia Gifts Fair 2026 Launches with Record-Breaking Ambitions and a Sustainable Vision
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – April 01, 2026 – The Malaysian Gifts & Premium Association (MGPA) today officially launched the 16th Malaysia Gifts Fair (MGF 2026), setting the stage for what is anticipated to be the largest and most influential edition in the event's history. The launch, held at the Connexion Conference & Event Centre, signals a major push to expand Malaysia’s footprint as the premier gifting and sourcing hub within the ASEAN region, with a strong emphasis on sustainability and innovation.
Scheduled to take place from June 30 to July 2, 2026, at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, the fair is poised for significant growth, building on the momentum of its predecessors. The event aims to connect thousands of buyers with a vast array of products while championing a more responsible future for the industry.
A New Benchmark for Scale and Reach
The projections for MGF 2026 firmly establish its ambition to be the largest edition yet. Organizers are expanding the event to occupy four full exhibition halls at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, a significant increase from the three halls used in 2025. This expansion will accommodate over 400 exhibitor booths, up from 301 in the previous year, and is expected to attract more than 16,000 visitors and trade buyers.
This growth follows the record-setting success of the 15th edition, which was officially recognized by the ASEAN Records as the 'Largest Gifts and Premium Trade Fair in ASEAN.' According to Organising Chairman, Mr. Alex Chai, the 2025 fair generated over RM50 million in trade value and drew 14,623 attendees. The upcoming fair aims to surpass these metrics, reinforcing its status as an unmissable event for industry professionals.
In his address at the launch, MGPA President, Mr. Ivan Loo, highlighted the evolving role of corporate gifts. He noted that they are no longer mere novelties but strategic tools for enhancing brand engagement, recognizing employees, and fostering customer loyalty. "Businesses are increasingly prioritising value, sustainability, and brand relevance," Mr. Loo stated, emphasizing that advancements in automation and digital integration are also transforming manufacturing and sourcing practices.
Championing a Sustainable Gifting Revolution
Reflecting a profound shift in global consumer and corporate values, the theme for MGF 2026 is "Redefining Sustainable Gifting for a Better Tomorrow." This theme is more than a slogan; it represents a core strategic direction for the fair and the industry it serves. The event will feature a dedicated 'Sustainable Products' category, showcasing items made from eco-friendly materials like bamboo, cork, and recycled PET, as well as ethically produced artisanal goods.
This focus aligns perfectly with market trends across the Asia-Pacific region, where nearly 45% of consumers now prioritize purchasing sustainable products. This movement is largely driven by Millennial and Gen Z professionals, a demographic that demonstrates a high willingness to pay a premium for goods that align with their environmental and social values. By championing ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles, MGF 2026 is positioning itself at the forefront of this change, helping businesses meet the growing demand for responsible and eco-conscious corporate gifts.
The fair will serve as a critical platform for suppliers who specialize in circular economy models and eco-conscious designs, connecting them with corporate buyers who are increasingly mandated to meet sustainability targets and enhance their brand reputation through ethical sourcing.
Cementing Malaysia's Role as an ASEAN Trade Gateway
MGF 2026 is set to play a pivotal role in strengthening Malaysia's position as a central hub for the ASEAN gifts and premiums market. The industry is already showing robust health, with total trade in Malaysia growing by 17% from January to April 2024, and exports registering nearly 16% growth in the same period. The fair is expected to further catalyze this growth.
This year's edition will see a marked increase in international participation, with curated country pavilions and exhibitors from Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Hong Kong SAR, Taiwan region, South Korea, India, and Bangladesh. This influx of international players provides regional buyers with unparalleled global sourcing opportunities while offering international exhibitors a strategic entry point into the dynamic ASEAN market, which boasts a population of over 660 million.
The collaboration with government agencies like the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) further amplifies the fair's impact. MATRADE's extensive global network of 49 overseas offices provides crucial support for MGPA's mission to elevate the Malaysian gifting industry on the world stage.
Empowering SMEs and Driving Innovation
Beyond its large-scale economic impact, the Malaysia Gifts Fair continues to be a vital engine for local Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs). The event provides an indispensable platform for these businesses to showcase their innovations, connect with corporate clients, and gain access to broader markets.
A key component of this support system is the Market Development Grant (MDG), a government initiative managed by MATRADE. A briefing on the grant was a key feature of the launch event, providing exhibitors with insights into securing financial support. The MDG is a reimbursable grant with a lifetime limit of RM300,000, designed to help Malaysian companies cover costs associated with export promotion activities, including participation in endorsed international trade fairs like MGF.
This financial assistance is crucial for smaller players, enabling them to compete on a larger stage and invest in market outreach. The fair's comprehensive scope, covering ten product categories including printing, packaging, souvenirs, and machinery solutions, ensures that it supports the entire industry ecosystem. This fosters not only trade but also innovation and collaboration across the supply chain, from raw material suppliers to manufacturers of finished goods.
The 16th Malaysia Gifts Fair promises to deliver expanded business opportunities, stronger regional connections, and a renewed focus on sustainable and future-ready gifting solutions when it opens its doors this June.
