Sandals Resorts International
Sandals Resorts International (SRI) is a privately held, family-owned hospitality company headquartered in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Founded in 1981 by Gordon "Butch" Stewart, the company's core business revolves around operating luxury all-inclusive resorts across the Caribbean. Its mission is to provide guests with memorable experiences through its Caribbean-born brands, delivered by a dedicated team, while committing to sustainable growth and caring for its team members, the environment, and the host countries.
SRI's key offerings include its flagship Sandals Resorts, which cater exclusively to adult couples, and Beaches Resorts, designed for families. The company also manages Fowl Cay Resort, a private island, and Your Jamaican Villas, offering private home accommodations. These resorts provide a "Luxury Included®" experience, encompassing 5-Star Global Gourmet™ dining, unlimited premium spirits, a wide array of land and water sports, PADI-certified diving, golf, spa services, and unique accommodations like overwater bungalows. Sandals Resorts operates 17 properties across eight Caribbean islands, including Jamaica, Antigua, Saint Lucia, The Bahamas, Grenada, Barbados, Curaçao, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
Adam Stewart, son of the founder, serves as the Executive Chairman, continuing the company's legacy of innovation and expansion. In recent news, Sandals Resorts International is undertaking a significant $200 million investment to renovate and redevelop three of its Jamaican properties—Sandals Montego Bay, Sandals Royal Caribbean, and Sandals South Coast—following hurricane damage, with reopenings scheduled for late 2026. The company is also pursuing a $1 billion expansion strategy for its Beaches Resorts brand, with new properties planned for Jamaica, Barbados, and the Bahamas. Additionally, SRI was reported in March 2025 to be exploring a potential sale valued between $6 billion and $7 billion, though no final decision has been made. Through the Sandals Foundation, the company actively engages in corporate social responsibility initiatives focused on education, community, and environmental protection in the Caribbean.
