The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) is a government-subvented statutory body established in 2001 under the HKTB Ordinance. Its core business is to market and promote Hong Kong as a premier global travel destination and to enhance the overall visitor experience. The HKTB's primary mission is to maximize the social and economic contribution of tourism to the community of Hong Kong, thereby consolidating the city's position as a unique, world-class, and highly desired destination. The organization is headquartered in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong, at 9-11/F, Citicorp Centre, 18 Whitfield Road.
To achieve its objectives, the HKTB offers a range of services and initiatives. These include developing and executing global marketing campaigns, organizing year-round mega-events, and providing comprehensive visitor support through visitor centers, free Wi-Fi hotspots, and mobile applications. The HKTB also works to improve visitor facilities, enhance service standards, and promotes Hong Kong as a leading destination for Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions (MICE) through its dedicated Meetings & Exhibitions Hong Kong (MEHK) unit. The Board targets diverse market segments, including leisure, business, and family travelers.
In recent leadership changes, Dr. Peter Lam Kin-ngok was appointed Chairman of the HKTB, effective April 1, 2025, for a term extending to March 31, 2028, succeeding Dr. Pang Yiu-kai. Dane Cheng serves as the Executive Director. The HKTB has been actively driving the recovery of Hong Kong's tourism sector, notably through campaigns like "Hello Hong Kong," which included offering free airfares to attract visitors. The Board continues to position Hong Kong as the "Events Capital of Asia," an "international MICE hub," and "Asia's cruise hub," and has undertaken recent travel missions to key markets like India to boost visitor arrivals.
