Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) has reached final investment decision (FID) on Cobirgy, Spain’s largest biogas plant, with €727M committed from its Advanced Bioenergy Fund I.
The plant will produce over 230 GWh of biomethane annually and 150,000 tonnes of organic fertiliser, processing up to 500,000 tonnes of feedstock yearly.
Cobirgy is designated a Strategic Business Project by the Catalonian government and supported with a CAPEX grant.
Over 350 local farmers are supplying 80% of slurry within a 15-kilometre radius.
