Sage Unifies HR and Finance with New AI-Powered HCM Platform

ATLANTA, GA – April 23, 2026 – Sage, a major player in business software, today announced a significant move to bridge the long-standing gap between human resources and finance with the launch of Sage HCM. The new human capital management platform is designed for mid-market businesses in North America and integrates directly with the company's popular Sage Intacct financial management suite.

The launch aims to tackle a persistent challenge for growing companies: siloed data systems that prevent a unified view of workforce costs, which are often a business's largest and most volatile expense. By connecting HR, payroll, and workforce data with core financials, Sage HCM promises to deliver greater clarity, control, and more strategic decision-making capabilities to CFOs and HR leaders. The new offering is further bolstered by an industry-specific version for construction and a new AI-powered “HCM Agent” designed to automate complex payroll and HR workflows.

This fragmentation makes it difficult to get a real-time, accurate picture of labor costs and their impact on the bottom line. According to recent research from Deloitte, this is a top concern for business leaders, with nearly three-quarters (74%) of organizations stating that improving how workforce data supports decision-making is now a critical priority.

Sage HCM is engineered to address this very problem. By creating a seamless data flow between workforce management and the general ledger in Sage Intacct, the platform enables organizations to work from a single source of truth. The agent is designed to guide users through payroll preparation, automatically validate data, and assist with reconciliation, highlighting potential compliance risks and anomalies for human review.

This infusion of AI into core business functions reflects a broader industry trend where competitors like Workday and Dayforce are also heavily investing in intelligent automation. Sage's approach focuses on creating domain-specific agents that handle routine work, such as flagging missing time entries or validating configuration changes, thereby reducing manual effort and improving accuracy. The goal is not to replace human oversight but to enhance it, allowing HR and payroll professionals to shift their focus from tedious data entry to more strategic initiatives.

The HCM Agent joins a growing network of AI tools within Sage's portfolio, which already support finance workflows like financial close and accounts payable, signaling a clear strategy to embed intelligent automation across its entire platform.

A Tailored Solution for the Construction Industry

Recognizing that one size does not fit all, Sage is also launching Sage HCM for Construction. This specialized version is built to handle the unique and often convoluted labor management challenges inherent in the construction sector. Firms in this industry frequently grapple with complex union rules, certified payroll reporting for government projects, and prevailing wage requirements, all of which can create significant compliance burdens and payroll errors if not managed meticulously.

Sage HCM for Construction integrates these specialized payroll needs directly with job costing and project financials within Sage Intacct Construction and Sage 300 CRE. This allows for real-time tracking of labor costs against project budgets, a critical factor for maintaining profitability.
