The daughter of Debbie Green, a 1984 Olympic silver medalist and one of the greatest setters in American volleyball history, Polster was immersed in the sport from a young age.

Her own athletic career was illustrious. As a four-year starting setter at Long Beach State, she led the team to four NCAA Tournament appearances and etched her name in the program's record books, ranking fourth in career assists and tenth in career digs. Following her collegiate success, she spent two years with the USA National Team before competing professionally in France's top-tier Pro A league with Nantes.

Transitioning from player to mentor, Polster built an equally impressive career on the sidelines. After six seasons as an assistant coach at the University of the Pacific, she took the helm at Cal State Fullerton. There, she engineered a significant turnaround, leading the program to its most wins since 2010 and its most conference wins since 2012. Her responsibilities were all-encompassing, directing everything from recruiting, scheduling, and budgeting to NCAA compliance, fundraising, and gameday operations.
