Yacht Club de Monaco

The Yacht Club de Monaco (YCM), founded in 1953 by Prince Rainier III and presided over by H.S.H. Prince Albert II since 1984, is a prestigious private club dedicated to promoting nautical activities and the art of living the sea. Headquartered at Quai Louis II in Monaco, the club serves as a vital link for sea enthusiasts and aims to position the Principality as the world capital of advanced yachting. It unites over 2,500 members from more than 80 nationalities, fostering a community built on tradition, innovation, and responsibility.

As a leading institution in the yachting sector, the YCM offers exclusive membership privileges and a wide array of services. These include organizing numerous international sporting and social events, such as the Primo Cup, Monaco Classic Week, and the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge. The club also operates the La Belle Classe Academy, providing comprehensive training programs, including RYA-certified courses and a Summer Yachting Camp, to foster maritime skills and professionalism. A strong advocate for environmental stewardship, the YCM actively promotes sustainable yachting through initiatives like the SEA Index®, which measures and improves the environmental performance of yachts.

Under the leadership of H.S.H. Prince Albert II and General Secretary & General Manager Bernard d'Alessandri, the Yacht Club de Monaco maintains a unique and influential position in the international luxury yachting scene. Recent notable activities include hosting the 13th Monaco Energy Boat Challenge in July 2026, which focuses on zero-emission technology and saw record participation. In 2026, the SEA Index® expanded its scope to include air quality certification for superyachts, assessing nitrogen oxide and fine particulate matter emissions. The club also celebrated the 10th anniversary of its iconic Norman Foster-designed clubhouse in 2024, reinforcing its commitment to both maritime heritage and future-oriented sustainable practices.
