Xinhua News Agency is the official state news agency of the People's Republic of China, established in 1931 by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) as its official organ for information dissemination. Headquartered in Beijing, China, at No. 57 Xuanwumen West Street, Xicheng District, it functions as the central conduit for the Chinese government's narratives. Its mission involves prioritizing the party's ideological directives, advancing party interests, and reflecting official policies, including the amplification of state achievements and narratives supportive of initiatives like the Belt and Road Initiative.

The agency provides a wide array of news products, including text, pictures, charts, social media content, and audio and video, disseminated in at least 15 languages to over 8,000 news organizations worldwide. Beyond traditional news gathering and publishing, Xinhua engages in diverse media services, operating its flagship online subsidiary Xinhuanet.com and television subsidiaries such as China Xinhua News Network Corporation (CNC). It also serves as a media think tank, focusing on public policies and international affairs, and has established a global news-gathering network with over 220 domestic and overseas bureaus.

As the largest media organization in China and one of the largest news agencies globally, Xinhua holds a significant market position. Fu Hua serves as its President and Party Secretary. The agency is recognized as a key instrument for China's global soft power, aiming to advance the country's influence through consistent messaging, innovation, and delivery. However, its role in advancing communist propaganda has led to its designation as a foreign mission by the United States. Recent efforts include promoting Chinese brands globally and focusing on economic resilience and growth.
