Windstar Cruises is a luxury cruise line specializing in small-ship yacht-style voyages, headquartered in Miami, Florida. The company's mission is to "imagine and deliver personalized and immersive experiences 180° from ordinary," with a vision to enrich perspectives through inspired travel. Windstar Cruises operates as an affiliate of Xanterra Travel Collection, a global hospitality and travel company.
The company operates a fleet of small luxury yachts, including both classic motor sailing yachts (Wind Class) and all-suite motor yachts (Star Class), designed to carry between 148 and 350 guests. These smaller vessels allow access to over 330 ports in more than 60 countries, including destinations in Europe, the Caribbean, Alaska, Japan, and the South Pacific, with year-round sailings in the Mediterranean and Tahiti. Windstar is recognized for its immersive and authentic cultural experiences, port-intensive itineraries, and its unique "Open Bridge Policy" and watersports platform. The cruise line is also the Official Cruise Line of the James Beard Foundation, emphasizing its innovative culinary program.
Under the leadership of President Christopher Prelog, Windstar Cruises is currently undergoing significant fleet expansion and renovation. The company is adding two new all-suite yachts, Star Seeker (debuting December 2025) and Star Explorer (debuting December 2026), which will expand its fleet to eight vessels. Concurrently, its Wind Class sailing yachts are undergoing a two-phase redesign, with the Wind Star's renovation completed in April 2026. These initiatives, alongside the completion of the $250 million Star Plus Initiative in 2022, reinforce Windstar's market positioning in luxury small-ship cruising, focusing on authentic travel and a commitment to a "softer footprint."
