Westlake Corporation
Westlake Corporation is an international manufacturer and supplier of petrochemicals, polymers, and fabricated building products, providing essential materials and innovative solutions that enhance daily life globally. Headquartered in Houston, Texas, the company's mission is to serve its customers by safely and reliably delivering quality and sustainable products and services. Westlake is committed to aligning the interests of its global customers, suppliers, shareholders, employees, and communities, with a strong emphasis on safety and environmental stewardship.
The company operates through two primary segments: Performance and Essential Materials (PEM) and Housing and Infrastructure Products (HIP). The PEM segment focuses on producing olefins, vinyl chemicals, polyethylene, and epoxies, which are fundamental building blocks for diverse applications such as food packaging, medical devices, and automotive components. Westlake is notably one of the largest producers of low-density polyethylene (LDPE) in the United States. The HIP segment manufactures finished goods and key materials for the construction sector, including residential siding, architectural stone, roofing, windows, outdoor living products, and PVC compounds used in various industrial and consumer goods.
Jean-Marc Gilson assumed the role of President and CEO on July 15, 2024, succeeding Albert Chao, who transitioned to Executive Chairman. Westlake Corporation, which changed its name from Westlake Chemical Corporation in February 2022 to better reflect its diversified portfolio, has strategically expanded through acquisitions, including Boral's North American building products business and Hexion's global epoxy business. Recent developments include the acquisition of PVC and VCM plants in Wilhelmshaven, Germany, in June 2026, expanding its global chlorovinyls manufacturing capacity. Conversely, the company announced plans in 2025 to cease operations at several North American chlorovinyl and styrene facilities and its Pernis facility in the Netherlands, aiming to improve profitability in its Performance Materials segment amidst global overcapacity. Westlake is also committed to sustainability, having achieved a 20% reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 CO2e emissions per ton of production by 2024 and aiming for an additional 5% reduction by 2030.
