Supreme Court of Singapore

The Supreme Court of Singapore is the highest judicial court in the Republic of Singapore, serving as a public institution dedicated to the administration of justice. Its mission is to superintend the administration of justice and ensure accessible justice that commands trust, respect, and confidence. The Supreme Court comprises the Court of Appeal, the High Court (which includes the Appellate Division and General Division), and the Singapore International Commercial Court (SICC). It exercises judicial power to hear both civil and criminal matters, including appeals from lower courts. Key services include adjudicating serious criminal and civil cases, handling transnational commercial disputes through the SICC, and overseeing family-related proceedings via the Family Justice Courts, which are also part of the Supreme Court system. The Supreme Court is currently led by Chief Justice Sundaresh Menon, who has served since November 6, 2012. Chief Justice Menon is slated to retire on February 26, 2027, with Justice Sushil Nair appointed to succeed him as Singapore's 5th Chief Justice. The Court actively works to enhance access to justice through procedural reforms and technological innovations like eLitigation.
