Shenzhen Media Group (SZMG) is a state media company based in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, China, established on June 28, 2004. It operates as a comprehensive media conglomerate, with its core business centered on broadcasting and diversified media operations. The group is controlled by the propaganda department of the Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, and its headquarters are located in the Guangdian Building, Pengcheng 1st Road, Futian District, Shenzhen.
SZMG's key offerings include the operation of twelve television channels and four radio stations, which broadcast a variety of content such as music, news, and Chinese talk shows. Among its television channels are Shenzhen Satellite TV, City Channel, Drama Channel, Finance Channel, and an International Channel. The group also manages new media platforms and applications, including "Yi Shenzhen," "Zhinews" (Straight News), and "Shen Aiting." Its business scope extends to film and television content production, advertising, cable networks, cultural industrial parks, cultural finance, and exhibitions.
As of late 2023, Shenzhen Media Group reported total assets of 11.4 billion yuan and a workforce of 5,261 employees. The group launched an international communication center in July 2023, further expanding its global reach. Recent initiatives include the premiere of "Telling China's Story" Season 4 in April 2026. SZMG is actively pursuing a strategy of integrated development and innovation, focusing on strengthening its content, channels, and technological capabilities, including the development of AI applications and the upgrade of its flagship "Yi Shenzhen" app, aiming to solidify its position as a leading mainstream media and cultural industry group in China.
