SalMar ASA is a Norwegian aquaculture company and one of the world's leading producers of farmed salmon, headquartered in Kverva, Frøya Municipality, Norway. Founded in 1991, the company's core business revolves around the sustainable production of Atlantic salmon, driven by a mission encapsulated in its vision, "Passion for Salmon," which emphasizes minimizing environmental impact and maximizing value creation throughout its operations.

The company operates a fully integrated value chain, encompassing broodfish and smolt production, marine-phase farming, harvesting, processing, and the global sale of farmed salmon. SalMar offers a diverse range of fresh and frozen salmon products, including fillets, portions, loins, and whole fish, and is also recognized as a leading producer of organic salmon. Its market reach extends across Asia, the United States, Canada, Europe, and Norway, serving importers, exporters, processing companies, and retail chains. SalMar's operational segments include Fish Farming Central Norway, Fish Farming Northern Norway, Sales & Industry, Icelandic Salmon (in which it holds a 52% stake), and SalMar Ocean, a wholly-owned subsidiary focused on pioneering offshore aquaculture.

Under the leadership of CEO Frode Arntsen, appointed in October 2022, SalMar continues to maintain a strong market position. Recent notable activities include the successful issuance of new green bonds in June 2026 and the approval of a merger with Wilsgård AS in April 2025. The company reported strong biological performance and increased volume guidance in May 2026, projecting a total harvested volume of 318,000 tonnes for the Group in 2026, representing a 6% increase over 2025. Despite a challenging Q1 2025 with lower harvest volumes, SalMar remains focused on biomass growth and continues to experience strong demand for its products.
