The National Police Association (NPA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to supporting law enforcement through education, advocacy, and legal action. Its core mission is to educate supporters of law enforcement on how to assist police departments in achieving their objectives, and to defend law enforcement officers and agencies. The organization's headquarters are located in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The NPA offers a range of services including policy advocacy, where it reviews legislation and engages in outreach and endorsements to support crime-fighting initiatives. It provides legal defense for law enforcement agencies and officers, which involves filing lawsuits, making Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, and submitting amicus curiae briefs in court. Additionally, the NPA runs support programs such as public education campaigns, #SupportThePolice messaging, reward programs for information leading to arrests in cases of violence against officers, and morale-boosting initiatives like 'Thank You' programs. The association also provides grants to law enforcement reserve divisions, explorers, cadets, chaplains, and for equipment and training. Educational efforts include a free homeschool elective course and monthly newsletters on law enforcement issues.

Under the leadership of President Ed Hutchison, the National Police Association actively engages in current events impacting law enforcement. Recent activities include endorsing various legislative acts such as the "Bulletproof Law Enforcement Vehicles Act" (June 2026), the "Answering the Call Act of 2026" (May 2026), the "Local Law Enforcement Support Act of 2026" (May 2026), and the "Stop the Doxx Act" (June 2026). The NPA also filed an amicus curiae brief with the Supreme Court in June 2026 regarding officer liability and supported Kash Patel for FBI Director in December 2024. The organization positions itself as a vocal advocate against anti-police efforts, aiming to highlight challenges faced by law enforcement and counter narratives from groups it identifies as anti-police.
