National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP)

NMDP is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to saving lives through cell therapy for patients battling blood cancers and disorders. Headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the organization's mission is to create a world where every patient can receive their life-saving cell therapy. Founded in 1987, NMDP was formerly known as the National Marrow Donor Program® and Be The Match®, rebranding to NMDP in early 2024 to reflect its broader role in cell therapy.

The organization operates the world's largest registry of volunteer hematopoietic cell donors and umbilical cord blood units, connecting patients with suitable donors for blood stem cell transplants. Beyond facilitating matches, NMDP provides comprehensive patient and caregiver support, including financial assistance, navigation services, and counseling throughout the transplant journey. It also actively invests in and conducts medical research to advance cell therapies, improve patient outcomes, and expand treatment options, such as the NMDP Cryopreservation Service and the NMDP Donor for All initiative.

Amy Ronneberg has served as CEO since March 2020, leading the organization's strategic direction. Recent developments include the appointment of Katherine Heyerdahl as Chief Financial Officer and Jim Graham as Chief Information Officer in June 2024 to further drive operational strategy. NMDP continues to be a leader in the field, advocating for life-saving legislation and advancing research, with a reported impact on over 150,000 lives through cell therapy since its inception.
