National Bank of Canada (French: Banque Nationale du Canada) is the sixth largest commercial bank in Canada, headquartered in Montreal, Quebec. Laurent Ferreira has served as the President and CEO since November 2021. National Bank of Canada is recognized as one of Canada's six systemically important banks. In a significant strategic move, the bank completed the acquisition of Canadian Western Bank in February 2025, a deal valued at $5 billion, further expanding its presence in Canada. Additionally, S&P Global Ratings corrected its rating on the bank's senior unsecured notes to 'A+' from 'A-' on May 1, 2026.
