The Arbor Day Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit conservation and education organization headquartered in Lincoln, Nebraska, United States. Founded in 1972, its core business revolves around inspiring people to plant, nurture, and celebrate trees globally. The organization's mission is "to inspire people to plant, nurture, and celebrate trees throughout the world."

The Foundation offers a variety of programs and services aimed at environmental stewardship and reforestation. Key initiatives include Tree City USA, Tree Campus USA, Tree Line USA, Time for Trees, and Community Tree Recovery, which support urban forestry, disaster recovery, and large-scale tree planting efforts. Through its global reforestation program, the Arbor Day Foundation has facilitated the planting of over 500 million trees in neighborhoods, communities, cities, and forests worldwide. The organization collaborates with a broad network of partners, including federal and state agencies, non-governmental organizations, utility companies, corporations, and local tree planting groups.

Dan Lambe serves as the Chief Executive Officer, with Katie Loos promoted to President in March 2023. In 2024, the Foundation launched the Arbor Day Impact Fund, a venture capital initiative to invest in environmental startups, which notably supported Funga PBC in 2025, a company focused on accelerating tree growth and survival rates. However, in February 2025, a $75 million grant from the U.S. Forest Service for planting trees in underserved neighborhoods was terminated, affecting numerous partner organizations. Conversely, in September 2024, the Foundation subawarded $4.7 million in urban forestry grants to 18 community-based nonprofits through its Community Roots Program, utilizing funds from a larger Inflation Reduction Act grant. The Arbor Day Foundation continues to forge significant corporate partnerships, such as with Origins in April 2026 and Graphic Packaging International in November 2025, as well as through its Evergreen Alliance, to advance corporate sustainability goals.
