More Perfect
More Perfect is an American alliance and campaign dedicated to strengthening and renewing American democracy. It operates as a collaborative partnership among 43 Presidential Centers, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the Karsh Institute of Democracy at the University of Virginia, and over 100 other organizations. Led by CEO and Executive Chair John Bridgeland, its mission is to unite the nation around a shared vision for democratic renewal, particularly as the United States approaches its 250th anniversary in 2026.
The organization advances five foundational Democracy Goals: Universal Civic Learning, Expanding National Service & Volunteering, Bridging Divides & Building Trust, Trusted Elections & More Representative and Responsive Governance, and Access to Trusted News & Information. To achieve these, More Perfect develops and delivers civics education, creates new technology and media for educators, launches civic learning programs, and fosters opportunities for civic service and engagement across communities. It collaborates with key partners such as iCivics and the National Constitution Center.
In September 2025, More Perfect secured over $56 million in funding commitments from prominent philanthropies, including the Carnegie Corporation of New York, Stand Together, and the Bezos Family Foundation, to expand its civic learning and service initiatives. This significant investment underscores its market positioning as a leading bipartisan effort to revitalize civic engagement and strengthen democratic institutions in the United States. The leadership team includes co-chairs such as Melody Barnes, Gary Edson, Stephen Heintz, Alan Khazei, and Cecilia Muñoz, reflecting its broad-based support.
