Meltwater
Meltwater is a global software-as-a-service (SaaS) company specializing in media, social, and consumer intelligence. Founded in Oslo, Norway, in 2001 by Jørn Lyseggen, the company later established its headquarters in San Francisco, California. Its core mission is to empower businesses with actionable insights derived from social listening and comprehensive data analysis, enabling them to make informed decisions and drive growth by harnessing real-time global data to unlock a competitive edge.
Meltwater offers an integrated suite of solutions that spans media monitoring, social listening and analytics, influencer marketing, consumer insights, and social media management. The platform processes approximately one billion pieces of content daily from diverse sources, including online news, social media, print, broadcast, and podcasts, leveraging AI to transform this vast dataset into vital insights. These tools are designed to help PR, communications, and marketing professionals track brand mentions, analyze sentiment, identify trends, and measure campaign impact across over 120 countries.
John Box serves as the Chief Executive Officer, a role he assumed in November 2020. Meltwater was publicly traded on the Oslo Børs (Oslo Stock Exchange) under the ticker MWTR from December 2020 until August 2023. However, it was delisted on August 4, 2023, following a take-private acquisition by MW Investment B.V., an entity jointly controlled by private equity firms Marlin Equity Partners and Altor. This transition marked Meltwater's return to private ownership, allowing it to continue its focus on product leadership and expanding its AI-powered intelligence solutions.
