Lung Cancer Research Foundation (LCRF)

The Lung Cancer Research Foundation (LCRF) is a leading non-profit organization dedicated to improving lung cancer outcomes. Its core mission is to fund innovative research for the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and cure of lung cancer. Headquartered in New York, New York, LCRF plays a critical role in advancing scientific discoveries in the field.

LCRF's primary activities include awarding research grants to investigators worldwide, supporting projects across basic, translational, clinical, epidemiological, health services, disparities, and social determinants of health research. The foundation also provides extensive patient education and outreach, offering free resources and up-to-date information on diagnosis and treatment in both English and Spanish. Additionally, LCRF engages in awareness campaigns and organizes fundraising events, such as its "Free to Breathe" events and "Together Separately" webinar series, to foster community and support its research initiatives.

As of July 1, 2024, Dr. Kathryn A. O'Donnell assumed the role of Chair of LCRF's Scientific Advisory Board, succeeding Dr. Katerina Politi. The organization continues to actively solicit and fund cutting-edge research, recently announcing requests for proposals for ALK-positive lung cancer research and granting a Team Science Award focused on EGFR-mutant lung cancers in 2026. LCRF aims to nearly double its annual research investment to $5 million by 2030, committing over 50% of its net revenue to transformative projects, solidifying its position as a significant funder in the lung cancer research landscape, having awarded 429 grants totaling $48 million to date. Aubrey Rhodes serves as the Executive Director, and Antoinette Wozniak, MD, is the Chief Scientific Officer.
