LiveOnNY, Inc.
LiveOnNY is a nonprofit organization and the federally designated organ procurement organization (OPO) for the greater New York City metropolitan area. Established in 1978, its core mission is to save lives, provide comfort, and strengthen legacies through organ, eye, and tissue donation. The organization is headquartered in Long Island City, New York.
LiveOnNY's key services include facilitating lifesaving organ and tissue donations, caring for donor families, educating the community about the power of donation, and advocating on behalf of those awaiting transplants. It works in close partnership with 11 transplant centers and nearly 100 hospitals to coordinate donation and transplantation processes, serving a diverse population of 13 million residents across New York City, Long Island, and the lower Hudson Valley.
Under the leadership of President and CEO Leonard Achan, LiveOnNY has seen significant growth, with organ donations in the New York metro region increasing by nearly 70% between 2022 and 2025. The organization recently rang the Nasdaq Opening Bell on April 13, 2026, to raise awareness for organ donation. In 2025, LiveOnNY, in collaboration with NYU Grossman School of Medicine, launched the nation's first Advanced Organ Donor Management Fellowship, and in 2024, it unveiled the Donate Eight Simulation Center for advanced training and education.
