Kavalan Distillery

Kavalan Distillery, a subsidiary of the King Car Group, is a Taiwanese whisky producer headquartered in Yuanshan Township, Yilan County, Taiwan. Established in 2005 by founder Lee Tien-Tsai, the distillery's core business is the production of world-class single malt whisky. The company's mission is rooted in the King Car Group's principles of "Manufacture, Nurture, Nature," aiming to craft distinctive whiskies that reflect Taiwan's unique climate and heritage. The distillery is named after the indigenous Kavalan people who originally inhabited the region.

Kavalan's product portfolio primarily consists of a diverse range of single malt whiskies, categorized into the Kavalan Series and the Solist Series. Key expressions include Kavalan Classic, Concertmaster, King Car Conductor, and various Solist single cask strength offerings matured in different types of barrels such as ex-Bourbon, Sherry, Vinho Barrique, and Port casks. The distillery also offers the Distillery Select Series, designed to be an entry-level range. Kavalan leverages Taiwan's subtropical climate, which accelerates the maturation process, contributing to the whiskies' rich and complex flavor profiles, often characterized by tropical fruit notes.

Kavalan has achieved significant global recognition, consistently winning numerous international awards and solidifying its position as a leading producer in the world whisky market. Recent accolades include being named "Distiller of the Year" at the 2026 World Whiskies Awards and securing the "Whisky of the Year," "Distillery of the Year," and "Master Distiller of the Year" titles at the 2025 International Whisky Competition. The brand also consistently ranks among the top-selling world whiskies, holding the 4th position in Drinks International's Annual Brands Report for 2026, marking its third consecutive year. In 2025, Kavalan made history at the Tokyo Whisky and Spirits Competition by receiving two "Best of the Best Single Malt" awards for its LÁN and Solist PX Sherry Single Cask Strength expressions.
