ICSC is a global trade association dedicated to the Marketplaces Industry, encompassing shopping centers, malls, mixed-use centers, and street-level storefronts. Established in 1957, its core mission is to promote and elevate these spaces as vital components of communities and economies where people shop, dine, work, play, and gather. The organization is headquartered at 1251 Avenue of the Americas, New York, NY, U.S..

The association provides a comprehensive suite of services to its members, including facilitating connections and deals through various events, advocating for public policy that benefits the retail real estate sector, and developing high-impact marketing and public relations initiatives. Key offerings include major conferences like ICSC Las Vegas and ICSC New York, virtual series, professional development programs, and extensive industry insights and research. ICSC serves a diverse global membership of over 70,000 professionals across more than 100 countries, including owners, developers, managers, investors, retailers, and public officials.

Under the leadership of President & CEO Tom McGee, ICSC underwent a significant rebranding in July 2021, shifting its external identity to simply "ICSC" with the tagline "Innovating Commerce Serving Communities." This change reflects the evolving retail landscape and a broader focus beyond traditional shopping centers. John Peter (JP) Suarez was elected Chairman for the 2026 term. The organization remains a preeminent voice in the commercial real estate and retail industries, actively conducting research on consumer behavior, the cost of convenience, and the integration of technology like AI in retail, while also fostering future talent through various programs.
