HelpMeSee
HelpMeSee is a non-profit organization dedicated to eradicating cataract blindness globally by expanding access to high-quality, affordable surgical treatment. Founded by Albert L. Ueltschi and Jim Ueltschi in 2010, the organization's core mission is to train cataract specialists, particularly in underserved regions, to address the significant backlog of treatable blindness worldwide. HelpMeSee is headquartered in the USA, with press releases often citing Jersey City, N.J. as a location.
The organization's primary offering is a comprehensive simulation-based training program for cataract surgery, featuring high-fidelity virtual reality Eye Surgery Simulators equipped with haptic feedback. These simulators allow for realistic practice of procedures such as Manual Small Incision Cataract Surgery (MSICS), Phacoemulsification, suturing, and complications management. The training model includes e-book courseware, instructor-led classroom sessions, and hands-on simulator practice, designed to build surgical proficiency and confidence in a risk-free environment.
HelpMeSee is recognized as a leader in simulation-based ophthalmic training, operating over 60 simulators and 17 training centers globally, including locations in India, China, France, Madagascar, Ghana, Nigeria, and the USA. Dr. Bonnie An Henderson was appointed President and CEO in October 2023, succeeding Saro Jahani. Recent developments include the launch of new training centers in Ghana and India in early 2026, and the expansion of its program at Wenzhou Medical University in China, making it the largest HelpMeSee training center worldwide. The organization also received five Gold awards in the 2025 Brandon Hall Group Excellence in Technology Awards for its training platform.
