Epitopea is a transatlantic cancer immunotherapeutics company dedicated to developing accessible, off-the-shelf RNA-based immunotherapies. Founded in 2021, the company is jointly headquartered in Montreal, Canada, and Cambridge, UK, with its corporate office located at the Babraham Research Campus in Cambridge. Its mission is to create transformational immunotherapies to treat a broad range of hard-to-treat cancers, including solid tumors and hematological malignancies, by targeting a novel class of tumor-specific antigens.

The company's core technology revolves around its proprietary CryptoMap™ platform, a discovery engine that identifies novel tumor-specific antigens, termed Cryptigens™. These Cryptigens™ are derived from aberrantly expressed sequences within the 'junk DNA' of cancer cells and are broadly shared across patients with the same tumor type. This approach enables the development of scalable, off-the-shelf RNA cancer immunotherapies, such as their CryptiVax™ pipeline, designed to deliver durable benefits to patients.

Epitopea has recently made significant strides, including the approval of an OVACT Clinical Trial Application for CryptiVax-1001 in advanced high-grade serous ovarian cancer on April 23, 2026. The company also strengthened its Scientific Advisory Board with the appointment of Lisa Butterfield on April 13, 2026. In October 2024, Epitopea closed a USD $31 million pre-Series A financing round, bringing its total capital raised to over $45 million. Additionally, in February 2025, Epitopea announced a license and research collaboration agreement with MSD (Merck & Co., Inc.) to identify Cryptigen™ TSAs, with potential milestone payments up to $300 million per product.
