Dubai International Financial Centre
The Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) is a leading global financial hub and a special economic zone located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Established in 2004, its core mission is to develop the world's most advanced financial center, thereby strengthening Dubai's reputation as a premier business destination, shaping the financial industry across the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia (MEASA) region, and creating value for businesses. The DIFC operates under its own independent legal and regulatory framework, based on English common law, and is headquartered in Dubai.
DIFC provides a comprehensive suite of services and a robust ecosystem for a wide array of financial and non-financial entities. Key offerings include a 0% tax rate on corporate income and profits, 100% foreign ownership, and no restrictions on capital or profit repatriation, all supported by an independent judicial system. The Centre caters to market segments such as banking, financial services, insurance, wealth and asset management, brokerage and capital markets, and professional services. It also offers various corporate structures, including holding companies, foundations, and family offices, and is a significant hub for FinTech and innovation. DIFC strategically connects the fast-growing MEASA markets, comprising 77 countries, with the economies of Asia, Europe, and the Americas.
In the first half of 2026, DIFC achieved a significant milestone, surpassing 10,000 active registered companies, including over 1,134 regulated financial services firms. This growth reinforces its position as the region's largest and most diversified financial services ecosystem. DIFC currently ranks seventh globally in the Global Financial Centres Index (GFCI), making it the highest-ranked financial center in the MEASA region. Under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum as President and Essa Kazim as Governor, DIFC is actively driving the future of finance through its focus on FinTech, AI, and innovation, with initiatives like the DIFC Innovation Hub. The Centre aims to double its GDP contribution by 2030 and align with the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33) to position Dubai among the world's top four financial centers by 2033.
