Cognite is a global industrial artificial intelligence (AI) software company founded in 2016. Its core mission is to empower industrial companies with accessible, trustworthy, and contextualized data to drive full-scale digital transformation in heavy-asset industries. While initially established in Oslo, Norway, Cognite announced the grand opening of its new global headquarters in Tempe, Arizona, in December 2025, relocating to better access North American markets, while maintaining offices globally.

The company's flagship offering is Cognite Data Fusion (CDF), an Industrial DataOps platform designed to break down data silos by ingesting, cleaning, and contextualizing operational technology (OT), information technology (IT), and engineering datasets to create a unified Industrial Knowledge Graph. Complementing CDF, Cognite Atlas AI™ provides advanced modeling, generative AI, and agentic AI capabilities through a low-code industrial agent builder to automate industrial workflows. These solutions are tailored for heavy-asset industries such as oil and gas, power and utilities, renewable energy, and manufacturing.

Cognite is privately held and has been recognized as a leader in industrial AI and DataOps platforms. In a significant development, Schneider Electric announced on June 30, 2026, an agreement to acquire 100% of Cognite's share capital for $3.1 billion. Upon completion of the transaction, Cognite will be integrated with AVEVA and will be reported within Schneider Electric's Industrial Automation business. Girish Rishi serves as the CEO of Cognite, having taken over from co-founder John Markus Lervik in April 2022.
