Catalent, Inc. is a global contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) dedicated to partnering with pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and consumer health companies. Its core mission is to develop, manufacture, and supply products that enable people to live better and healthier lives, accelerating the journey from product development to patient care. The company's global corporate headquarters are located in Tampa, Florida, following a relocation from Somerset, New Jersey, in September 2025.
Catalent offers a comprehensive suite of services, including advanced delivery technologies, drug formulation, development, and manufacturing solutions for drugs, biologics, gene therapies, and consumer health products. The company leverages proprietary technologies such as GPEx cell line engineering and SMARTag bioconjugation to support a wide range of therapeutic modalities.
In a significant corporate development, Novo Holdings A/S completed its acquisition of Catalent in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately $16.5 billion on December 18, 2024. This transaction transitioned Catalent into a privately held company, operating as an independent CDMO under Novo Holdings' ownership. As part of the agreement, Novo Holdings will sell three of Catalent's fill-finish manufacturing sites to Novo Nordisk A/S for $11 billion to enhance the production capacity for GLP-1 drugs. Alessandro Maselli continues to serve as President and CEO. Recent activities include a $4.1 billion debt refinancing in August 2026 and the launch of Qai, an AI-enabled quality management tool, in June 2026.
