CIBC Innovation Banking is the technology and innovation lending division of Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC), serving as a financial partner to entrepreneurs and investors within the innovation economy. The division provides strategic advice, cash management, and funding to innovation companies across North America, the UK, and select European countries. Headquartered in Toronto, Canada, CIBC Innovation Banking leverages the resources and stability of its parent company to support its clients.

The firm offers specialized funding solutions, including growth capital, venture debt, and recurring revenue financing, tailored to support startups from early-stage growth through to IPO and beyond. CIBC Innovation Banking provides non-dilutive financing to venture-backed businesses across various sectors, including software, healthcare, fintech, life sciences, and clean technology. They also provide specialized banking support to venture- and private equity-backed technology and life science companies.

CIBC Innovation Banking has become an established lender in the innovation economy, having deployed $10.8 billion in capital to over 600 Venture Capital (VC) backed businesses over the past six years. Effective November 1, 2024, Paul McKinlay and Patrick Martin were appointed as Executive Managing Directors and Co-Heads, succeeding Mark Usher. The division maintains a global presence, operating out of 14 locations in key innovation ecosystems across North America and Europe.
