BioTalent Canada

BioTalent Canada is a national non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening Canada's bio-economy by addressing human resource needs and fostering workforce development. Headquartered in Ottawa, Ontario, the organization's mission is to provide valuable, evidence-based labour market information and connect job-ready talent with employers to ensure the long-term agility and sustainability of the sector.

As a workforce development council, BioTalent Canada offers a range of services including labour market intelligence, industry-driven standards, HR tools, and skills development programs. It facilitates wage subsidies and internships, provides job search and candidate search tools, and offers professional development opportunities for workers. The organization serves a broad network of stakeholders, including employers, job seekers, post-secondary institutions, and immigrant-serving agencies, with a particular focus on supporting small and medium-sized enterprises within the Canadian bio-economy.

In recent developments, BioTalent Canada launched BioInsights, a new labour market intelligence consulting service in June 2026, and partnered with Fairleigh Dickinson University Vancouver in July 2026 to enhance life sciences talent development. The organization also received federal funding in February 2026 to support initiatives addressing workplace sexual harassment in the bio-economy. Led by President and CEO Rob Henderson and Board Chair Chelsea Platzke, appointed in September 2025, BioTalent Canada continues to be recognized for its workplace excellence, including being certified as a Great Place to Work® for six consecutive years and named a 2025 Employer of Choice by Canadian HR Reporter, reflecting its commitment to Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA).
