The American Pharmacists Association (APhA) is the first-established and largest professional society of pharmacists in the United States, founded in 1852. Headquartered in Washington, D.C., at 2215 Constitution Ave NW, APhA's mission is to serve as the voice of pharmacy, leading the profession and equipping its members to be medication experts in team-based, patient-centered care.

APhA provides a wide array of services and resources for its members, which include practicing pharmacists, pharmaceutical scientists, student pharmacists, and pharmacy technicians. Key offerings include advocacy for the profession, extensive continuing education and certificate training programs, practice tools, and various publications such as The Journal of the American Pharmacists Association, The Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Student Pharmacist. The association also facilitates professional development, networking opportunities, and the dissemination of timely information and resources.

Michael D. Hogue serves as the Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer. In recent news, APhA applauded the U.S. House Ways and Means Committee in May 2026 for advancing the Main Street Pharmacy Access Act, aimed at improving seniors' access to pharmacist-provided care. The organization also announced its 2026 Immunization Champion Award winners and expressed concerns regarding changes to the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force Leadership. APhA maintains its position as a leading advocate for the pharmacy profession, influencing national guidelines and policies.
