America250.org, Inc.

America250 is the national brand for the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the United States, a multi-year initiative culminating on July 4, 2026. It is overseen by the U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission, a congressionally established nonpartisan body, and supported by America250.org, Inc., a private 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The mission is to engage every American in reflecting on the nation's past, honoring contributions, and looking toward its future, fostering shared experiences that educate, engage, and unite. The organization's main office is located in Washington, D.C.

America250 develops and implements a range of programs and initiatives designed to involve the public in the commemoration. These include "America's Startup," a national collegiate entrepreneurship competition; "America Gives," a volunteer service initiative aiming to make 2026 a record-setting year for service; and "Our American Story," an effort to collect American narratives. Other programs encompass "America's Field Trip," "America's Time Capsule," and "America's Soundtrack." The initiative also coordinates major national events and partners with state and territory commissions, sponsors, and federal agencies to facilitate widespread participation.

The U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission is chaired by Rosie Rios, with former Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama, and former First Ladies Laura Bush and Michelle Obama serving as Honorary National Co-Chairs. Recent activities include the re-opening of the "America's Startup" competition in August 2026, a partnership with Cape Air for a commemorative aircraft in July 2026, and the completion of Volume 1 of "America's Soundtrack" in July 2026. In December 2025, America250 launched "America Gives" to encourage widespread volunteer service. The organization positions itself as the sole national nonpartisan entity charged by Congress to lead this historic commemoration, aiming to engage all 350 million Americans.
