This strategic shift includes the launch of its low-emission Volta™ steel brand. Rajat Marwah was appointed President and CFO in November 2025, and subsequently CEO in January 2026, with Michael Moraca becoming CFO. Despite reporting significant losses in 2025 due to U.S. tariffs and a softening market, leading to layoffs, Algoma remains Canada's second-largest steel producer and the sole producer of discrete plate products in the country, reinforcing its market position through strategic partnerships and a commitment to sustainable steel production.
