European biologics CDMO Rezon Bio appoints Dr. Hubert Scholze as Chief Business Officer to spearhead its global commercial expansion and integrated service strategy.
Rezon Bio Taps Industry Veteran Dr. Hubert Scholze as CBO for Global Push
DUCHNICE-WARSAW, Poland – July 01, 2026 – In a strategic move set to accelerate its international growth, Rezon Bio, a science-driven European biologics contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO), has announced the appointment of Dr. Hubert Scholze as its new Chief Business Officer (CBO), effective today. The appointment signals a significant step in the company's mission to become a global leader in the competitive biologics manufacturing sector.
As a new member of the Executive Leadership Team, Dr. Scholze will take the helm of Rezon Bio’s commercial functions. His broad mandate includes overseeing Business Development, Market Intelligence, Global Marketing, Proposal Management, and Project Management. This role is central to executing the company's commercial strategy, which focuses on forging robust strategic partnerships, driving continued international expansion, and delivering a seamless client experience from initial contact through to program completion.
A Strategic Move for a New Era of Growth
Dr. Scholze's appointment comes at a pivotal moment for Rezon Bio. The company, which launched in September 2025 as an independent CDMO spun off from Polpharma Biologics, is aggressively building on its parent company's legacy of excellence in biosimilars. While Polpharma Biologics now focuses exclusively on its biosimilar pipeline, Rezon Bio is dedicated to providing end-to-end CDMO services to a global client base.
The organization leverages two state-of-the-art, GMP-certified facilities in Poland. Its Gdańsk site, which is both EMA certified and US FDA approved, focuses on R&D and clinical to medium-scale commercial production. Meanwhile, its new Duchnice-Warsaw facility is one of Europe's largest commercial-scale biologics sites, adding significant drug substance manufacturing capacity with 2,000L single-use bioreactors. This dual-facility strategy with mirrored capabilities allows for seamless tech transfer and flexible scale-up, a key advantage for clients.
Rezon Bio's commitment to expansion is further evidenced by a recent grant of nearly PLN 17 million (EUR 3.6 million) secured in March 2026 to expand its drug substance manufacturing center. This investment underscores the company's ambition to compete for contracts globally, including those traditionally held by Asian manufacturers, and to solidify its presence in the crucial U.S. market.
“Hubert brings a unique combination of manufacturing expertise, commercial leadership and a deep understanding of the biologics industry and client needs,” said Dr. Adriana Kiędzierska-Mencfeld, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Rezon Bio. “His leadership will strengthen how we integrate commercial strategy, scientific excellence and operational execution to deliver greater value for our clients as our organization enters the next phase of growth.”
A Seasoned Leader with a Clear Vision
Dr. Scholze brings over 25 years of extensive experience in the pharmaceutical and CDMO industries, with a deep background in biologics manufacturing, operations, and global business development. He joins Rezon Bio from Catalent, where he led Global Business Development for the Core Biologics division, managing commercial activities for integrated mammalian drug substance and sterile drug product services.
His career began at Boehringer Ingelheim in Vienna, where he held significant leadership roles in biologics manufacturing before transitioning to commercial functions at leading organizations like Aenova Group and Catalent. This combination of hands-on manufacturing experience and high-level commercial strategy makes him uniquely suited to guide Rezon Bio's next chapter. His track record includes partnering with a wide range of clients, from emerging biotech startups to large global pharmaceutical companies, on programs spanning early development to large-scale commercial supply.
“I am excited to join Rezon Bio at such an important moment in the company’s journey,” said Dr. Scholze. “What attracted me the most is the proven track record, strong scientific and manufacturing expertise, and talented people who are passionate about delivering for their clients. Combined with a clear ambition for international growth, this creates a strong foundation for the future. I look forward to working with our teams and clients to build long-term partnerships, expand our global presence, and help bring innovative biologic therapies to patients worldwide.”
Navigating a Dynamic Global Market
Rezon Bio's strategic hire and expansion plans are set against the backdrop of a rapidly growing global biologics CDMO market. Valued at nearly $20 billion in 2023, the market is projected to exceed $43 billion by 2029, with a compound annual growth rate of over 14%. This surge is fueled by the increasing demand for biologic therapies, a strong outsourcing trend, and continuous technological advancements.
In this competitive landscape, dominated by giants like Lonza, Samsung Biologics, and WuXi Biologics, Rezon Bio aims to carve out a distinct niche. The company is positioning itself as a cost-competitive, reliable European partner that leverages Poland's highly skilled biopharma talent pool and favorable cost structure. By focusing on integrated, end-to-end services with a high degree of digital innovation—including AI-enabled systems and process modeling—Rezon Bio offers the agility and tailored solutions that are particularly attractive to small and mid-sized biopharma companies.
With a team of over 1,100 professionals and a reported 97% batch success rate in 2025, the company has already demonstrated its operational prowess. The appointment of Dr. Scholze is a clear and decisive step to translate this scientific and manufacturing excellence into global commercial success, ensuring Rezon Bio is well-positioned to capitalize on the booming demand for specialized biologics development and manufacturing partnerships.
