Multitude Insights Secures $10M to Arm Police with AI Intelligence
BOSTON, MA – February 27, 2026 – Public safety technology firm Multitude Insights has secured $10 million in Series A funding to scale its AI-powered intelligence platform, BLTN, signaling a major push to modernize how law enforcement agencies share critical information. The investment, led by Primary Venture Partners, aims to dismantle the siloed, decades-old systems that often hinder police investigations and place a heavy administrative burden on officers.
The funding round saw participation from a syndicate of investors including Commonweal Ventures, which focuses on government-facing technology, Counterview Capital, and strategic backers like Craig P. Abod of government IT solutions provider Carahsoft Technology. This infusion of capital is earmarked for the national expansion of BLTN (pronounced “bulletin”), a platform designed to help police departments distribute and analyze crime data in real time, across jurisdictional lines that have historically acted as informational barriers.
Modernizing an Antiquated System
For decades, law enforcement has been hampered by fragmented intelligence workflows. Critical leads on suspects, vehicles, or criminal patterns often get lost in endless email chains, buried in static PDF bulletins, or never leave the confines of a single department. Research indicates that a significant majority of public safety agencies still operate on outdated, on-premise systems not built for the dynamic, collaborative nature of modern policing. This technological deficit forces detectives and officers to spend valuable hours on manual data entry and cross-departmental phone calls instead of community-facing police work.
Multitude Insights aims to solve this by replacing these manual processes with a streamlined, intelligent system. The company’s BLTN platform acts as a secure, centralized hub where agencies can publish and search for crime bulletins.
“As a department, our priority is always to have our officers out in the community, not tied to a computer screen,” said Detective Lieutenant Kenneth Swift of the Watertown, MA police department. “BLTN has become a true force multiplier for Watertown. By automating the way we create, analyze, and share intelligence, it’s stripped away the manual ‘detective work’ of digging through emails and building static PDFs. We now have a modern way to share information with officers and identify cross-jurisdictional patterns in minutes, processes that used to take us days of phone calls and coordination.”
This shift from manual data sifting to automated analysis is at the core of the platform's value. It allows an officer in one town to be instantly aware of a related incident or suspect description from a neighboring jurisdiction, a connection that might otherwise have taken days to uncover, if it was ever made at all.
The Technology Behind the Badge
At its heart, BLTN leverages artificial intelligence and natural language processing (NLP) to read, understand, and connect disparate pieces of information. When an agency uploads a bulletin, the platform’s AI automatically analyzes the text and data to surface potential links to other cases, suspects, or patterns across its entire network of participating agencies.
“Cops run on information, but there’s never been a true system for sharing it beyond individual inboxes,” said Matt White, CEO and Co-Founder of Multitude Insights. “Officers shouldn’t have to dig through emails or call neighboring departments to find out if someone else has seen the same suspect, vehicle, or pattern.”
Further amplifying its impact, Multitude Insights announced a strategic partnership with Mark43, a leading provider of cloud-native Records Management Systems (RMS) and Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) software. This integration will embed BLTN directly into the core workflows of police departments, allowing intelligence to flow seamlessly from an agency's system of record to the broader network in real time. For an industry where RMS and CAD systems are the central nervous system of operations, this partnership represents a critical step toward creating a truly interconnected public safety ecosystem.
The company, founded by MIT alumni, military veterans, and law enforcement professionals, also announced the opening of a second office in the Pacific Northwest, signaling its coast-to-coast expansion plans and growing adoption, which reportedly spanned ten states within its first year of deployments.
Venture Capital's Bet on Public Safety
The $10 million Series A round is not just a milestone for Multitude Insights; it’s also indicative of a larger trend of venture capital flowing into the historically overlooked government technology (GovTech) and public safety sectors. Investors are increasingly recognizing a massive market opportunity in modernizing the tools used by first responders and government agencies.
“Multitude Insights has cracked the code for modern law enforcement technology. They deliver immediate value by using AI to dramatically cut down on time spent on paperwork, ensuring officers are out in the community, not stuck behind a computer,” said Jason Shuman, General Partner at lead investor Primary Venture Partners. “Crucially, they’ve also built a dynamic network effect. By streamlining collaboration and intelligence sharing, BLTN is not just improving single-agency operations—it’s enabling every participating community to solve crimes faster and more effectively.”
This sentiment is echoed by other investors. Commonweal Ventures, which specializes in companies partnering with government, had previously led Multitude’s seed round, demonstrating sustained confidence in the company's mission. The involvement of Craig P. Abod, President of Carahsoft Technology, a major government IT reseller, also points to a well-defined strategy for navigating complex government procurement cycles and scaling distribution.
"Law enforcement agencies need technology that enables seamless collaboration across jurisdictions," noted Abod. "Multitude Insights is addressing a critical need in public safety—they're transforming information into actionable intelligence that crosses jurisdictional boundaries seamlessly."
Navigating the Complexities of AI in Policing
The introduction of powerful AI tools into law enforcement is not without its challenges and concerns. Civil liberties organizations and privacy advocates have consistently raised questions about algorithmic bias, data security, and the potential for increased surveillance. The risk of AI systems perpetuating historical biases found in policing data or generating false positives that could lead to wrongful suspicion remains a significant ethical hurdle for the industry.
Multitude Insights appears to be addressing these concerns by designing its platform with a "human-in-the-loop" philosophy. The company emphasizes that its AI is built to assist, not replace, officer judgment. When the system identifies a potential connection, it transparently presents the underlying source data, allowing an officer to evaluate the evidence and make the final determination. This approach is intended to act as a safeguard against "AI drift" or algorithmic errors, ensuring that technology serves as a tool for human decision-making.
“Law enforcement is a highly regulated environment where security and legal discipline are critical,” said Akihiko Izu, COO and Co-Founder of Multitude Insights. “This discipline is core to how we built the company from day one, and this investment enables us to deepen both as we scale our platform for mission-critical customers.”
This balance is seen as crucial by seasoned public safety leaders. "Real-time data that drives proactive investigative tools are critical for modern law enforcement agencies to keep up with the overwhelming amount of information they receive daily,” said Edward Davis, a Senior Advisor at Commonweal Ventures and the former Police Commissioner of Boston. He added that as technology evolves for both criminals and law enforcement, police must adapt to stay ahead.
As agencies nationwide grapple with staffing shortages and renewed calls for efficiency and accountability, the push for technological modernization is accelerating. With fresh capital, a key strategic partnership, and a growing footprint across the country, Multitude Insights is positioning itself at the forefront of this transformation, betting that better information can lead to safer communities.
