Live Entertainment Giants Target Middle East with New Summit
ABU DHABI, UAE – February 25, 2026 – The global live entertainment industry is set to converge on Abu Dhabi in December 2026 for an unprecedented new conference, as two of the sector's most influential media companies join forces to launch the Live Summit Middle East. In a significant move that underscores the region's rapidly growing importance on the world stage, the International Live Music Conference (ILMC) and Pollstar announced the inaugural event, scheduled for December 7-8, 2026.
Hosted by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi and produced by regional powerhouse Ethara, the summit aims to convene 500 senior leaders from across the live entertainment ecosystem. Promoters, venue operators, agents, festival organizers, and technology innovators will gather for two days of keynotes, panel discussions, and curated networking designed to shape the future of the business.
A New Epicenter for Global Entertainment
The selection of Abu Dhabi is no coincidence. It represents a strategic acknowledgment of the Middle East's transformation into a primary market for live events. Recent industry analysis projects the UAE's live entertainment market to grow from over $13 billion in 2024 to nearly $23 billion by 2033. This explosive growth is a core component of the emirate's broader economic vision.
Abu Dhabi's Tourism Strategy 2030 is an ambitious plan to increase annual visitor numbers to over 39 million and significantly boost the tourism sector's GDP contribution to AED 90 billion by the end of the decade. This strategy is supported by massive investments in cultural infrastructure, most notably the Saadiyat Cultural District, which will soon house the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi and Zayed National Museum alongside the existing Louvre Abu Dhabi. This commitment has created a fertile ground for large-scale international events.
"The Middle East is one of the most dynamic growth markets in live entertainment today," said Andy Gensler, Editor in Chief of Pollstar. "With world-class touring, rapid venue expansion, and a thriving festival and cultural landscape, Abu Dhabi represents the perfect stage to bring the live industry's global leaders together to shape the future of the business."
A Landmark Collaboration for a Unified Industry
For the first time, the new conference brings together the combined expertise and global reach of ILMC and Pollstar. For nearly four decades, the London-based ILMC has been the premier meeting point for the international live music business, welcoming around 3,000 professionals annually from over 60 countries. Its trade publication, IQ Magazine, reaches over 75,000 professionals monthly, solidifying its role as a central nervous system for the European and international markets.
Meanwhile, Pollstar and its flagship Pollstar Live! conference have long been the dominant force in the North American market, providing essential data and a critical gathering for industry leaders. The joint venture in Abu Dhabi marks a pivotal moment, creating a single, unified platform for a truly global industry dialogue.
"With the explosion of shows, venues and interest in the Middle East over recent years, the industry needs an annual moment to reflect, exchange and celebrate," says ILMC head Greg Parmley. "And with ILMC and Pollstar joining forces to build this major new global music business platform, it will help drive the business forward from a truly global perspective."
Further solidifying its role in shaping the regional landscape, the summit will introduce the Live Summit Awards, a new program designed to recognize and promote excellence across all facets of live entertainment in the Middle East. The event will also feature dedicated mentorship and skills development opportunities for emerging local professionals, aiming to cultivate the next generation of industry leaders.
More Than a Conference: The Experiential Edge
Setting itself apart from traditional trade gatherings, the Live Summit Middle East is built around a unique experiential model. The summit is strategically timed to take place immediately after the season-ending Formula 1® Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on December 6. All registered delegates will receive complimentary access to the high-octane race weekend and its associated concerts.
This landmark timing ensures that a critical mass of senior executives from the intersecting worlds of live entertainment, sport, media, hospitality, and major brands will already be in the city. It transforms the conference from a standalone event into the culminating business-to-business chapter of a week-long, high-energy spectacle, maximizing networking opportunities among a diverse and influential group of decision-makers.
Following the two-day conference, the experience continues with a cultural immersion day on December 9. Curated by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, this program is designed to offer delegates a deeper appreciation of the emirate's heritage and its bold, contemporary ambitions, providing context for the market they are operating in.
