Internet, TV & Phone today announced the completion of a major fiber network expansion in Houston and Henry counties, a project made possible through a $3.41 million joint investment with the state.

The initiative, which brings cutting-edge connectivity to previously underserved communities, was funded by a $2.39 million grant from the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) and a $1.02 million matching contribution from WOW!. For the more than 15% of residents and business owners in the project area who previously lacked reliable internet, the new network represents a gateway to modern economic, educational, and healthcare opportunities that were once out of reach.

A New Era of Connectivity for Southeastern Alabama

In many parts of rural America, the absence of reliable broadband is more than an inconvenience; it is a fundamental barrier to progress. Shoupe noted that this latest buildout builds upon previous network upgrades in the nearby rural communities of Ashford and Cottonwood, creating a growing footprint of connectivity in the region. "We eagerly anticipate continuing our work with WOW! in this region," he added.

The successful deployment is a prime example of the public-private partnership model that has become the backbone of Alabama's widely praised broadband strategy.
